About

Then God said, "I give you every seed bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." Gen.1:29

I am mom to some beautiful kids. They are faithful cheerleaders and honest-to-goodness critics, not to mention my personal test subjects to whom this weblog is dedicated.

I love all things food. I love to eat, read cookbooks, browse cooking magazines and faithfully visit many other places on the WWW which celebrate food. Being that wandering gastronome, it pressed upon me to start my own online recipe journal . The journey to get here took a while. I'm glad I've started and in the middle of the trek, with lots of things learned and many things to discover. So, instead of writing down recipes in a comfortably worn notebook,  I'm now web jotting, with the added benefit of seriously polishing some typing skills.

I am most comfortable in my kitchen and having moved several times, this ever changing space is my haven to discover, experiment and create memorable meals for my family each and everyday.

I'm not a professional chef or a culinary expert, but I can cook. Then again I must admit, grand, epic fails are always a happening in my ever busy kitchen. We all know that many a tasteful dish can't happen without a here and there flub, right?

As a person of Indian descent, I do believe I have mastered the art of the curry ( my belief is not the same as stated fact, correct ?). My love of Indian food is immense, yet the recipes should and will extend beyond, since great cuisine knows no boundaries.

Most of these collections are swathed in memories, surrounded by stories and personal influences, bringing a uniqueness to each presented dish. A lot of them are handed down or of my own creation, unless a source is stated. I like to give credit where credit is due.

Why the name blessings? Food is a blessing, some of the greatest miracles in the Bible centered on food - God producing, blessing, multiplying. He has  blessed my hands, my home, my life.  How could I name this recipe log anything else?

You, readers, are also a blessing. Taking your time and patience to go through this small corner of web space contribute to the fuel that keep me going at pace and speed. Thank you.

Stay awhile. Check it out. If you need to catch my attention with a question or comment, the easiest way is to shoot me a line in the comments section of a relevant post.

Joyful cooking!

  7. Hi Tisa,

I just stumbled upon your blog. You seem so much like me -the type of food you cook and I guess most importantly the "believer" part.

Would love to hear your family's testimony sometime.

Looking forward to trying out your recipes.

    Blessings,

  13. Hi Tisa,

I stumbled upong your blog whilst searching on pinterest for Banana Jam and I am very glad i did :) . Firstly, Congrats on your wonderful collection of recipes. Will be trying some pretty soon. Secondly, I am amazed at the number of coincidences we share. 1. Thought i read you are from kottayam. My roots are too :) . 2. I have (had) a blog thecaptainskitchenette which is so similar to yours. But i have closed it out for public viewing for a year since I am working on something else now.
    3. My blog started on Feb 3rd 2012 with Banana Muffins and yours started on Feb 3rd 2012 with Banana Bread :) .

Guess thats enough coincidences in such a short span of browsing through your lovely blog. Will be following it. Good luck and keep the spirit to try/experiment more. Looking forward to reading more!

    Cheers!
